MURALING
Emma has been an artist for nearly 20 years — first as a professional writer and editor, and more recently as a muralist and illustrator as well. She took a leap of faith to create her first mural — a narrow floor-to-ceiling floral design inside her closet — without any training or experience, and she fell in love with the medium. Since then, she’s designed, created, and assisted on several more murals, including a full-wall recreation of the Wrigley Field marquee and facade (a solo project), a massive school playground series, and a three-story neighborhood mural (the latter two as a member of Chicago artist Ryan Tova Katz’s team); her contributions have included detail painting work, drawing outlines, and covering large surface areas on walls, ceilings, and the ground.). She finds inspiration in nature, the city around her, and even music she hears and words she reads. She’s equally energized by creating her own designs as she is executing a client's vision (or a combination of both).
